Seasonal Influenza (Flu)

This program provides influenza immunizations to adults and children in the Lake County area.

Where to Get Your Flu Shot

The Health Department continues to provide flu vaccinations at its Immunization Program, 2303 Dodge Avenue in Waukegan. The Health Department accepts Medicare Part B, Medicaid, cash, checks, and credit cards. No private insurance is accepted. Flu vaccinations are given by appointment. For more information or to make an appointment, call 847.377.8470.

In addition to the availability of vaccine at the Health Department's Immunization Program, the vaccine is available at sites throughout Lake County. Find a convenient location for yourself by using the Flu Vaccine Finder.

The injectable flu shots are $30 and the live, nasal spray flu vaccine is $44 for adults who are 19 years old or older. A recombinant flu vaccine for egg-allergic persons and a High-Dose flu vaccine for persons 65 years old and older are available for $50.

The charge for children who are VFC eligible is $16 per dose, but the fee may be waived if the family is unable to pay for the vaccination. The fee for non-VFC-eligible children is also $16 per dose, but payment is expected at the time of service. The fee is scheduled to go up to $23 on December 1, 2015. See below for VFC eligibility guidelines.
