Trauma Types Graphic2.JPG

Trauma can be something that happens one time or many times. It can be feeling out of control due to several things happening at once or it can be from a set of circumstances. The grant-funded Trauma Treatment Program is designed so a team of counselors and therapists can provide trauma treatment, trauma awareness, trauma support and intervention for children ages 2 to 18 who live in Lake County, Illinois. Families are also encouraged to be an active part of the child's treatment.

If you know someone who could benefit from the program, please call the phone number above and professionals can use a screening tool to determine if the person is eligible. If you would like to schedule a presentation at your school, organization, PTO meeting, parent night, or any other gathering, please call us. Trainings we can provide include common trauma responses, how to talk to children about trauma, trauma and the media, and managing secondary trauma for caregivers/first responders. A recent trauma response involved providing treatment services, debriefing sessions, and trauma education to school staff, administration and children who were involved in an April 2013 bus accident near Wadsworth and parents of those children.
